We are delighted to announce that the United Nations University International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) will serve as the official Local Organising Partners for the Global Health Security Conference 2026, taking place from 9–12 June at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

As two highly respected health research, policy, and education institutions based in Malaysia, UNU-IIGH and UKM bring a wealth of regional insight and global perspective. Their involvement strengthens the foundation of GHS2026, ensuring the conference is not only globally relevant but also meaningfully connected to the priorities, expertise, and leadership emerging from Malaysia and across ASEAN.

Working closely with GHSN, UNU-IIGH and UKM will play a vital role in shaping core elements of the conference. Their contributions will support:

  • Engagement with Malaysian ministries, regional bodies, and ASEAN stakeholders, enhancing collaboration across sectors and borders
  • Shaping academic and policy discussions, helping ensure the programme reflects the most pressing and emerging priorities in global health security
  • Promoting diversity and inclusion, with a focus on enabling broader participation through travel bursaries
  • Strengthening outreach to sponsors and partners within Malaysia and the region, building long-term engagement and investment in the conference’s success

We are also extremely grateful for their financial contribution, which will directly support travel bursary participation and help ensure that GHS2026 is accessible to a wider and more diverse group of delegates, including those from low and middle income countries whose perspectives are vital to advancing global health security.

Their partnership reflects a shared commitment to fostering a more inclusive, collaborative, and solutions focused global health security community. By working together, we aim to deliver a conference that not only convenes global leaders, practitioners, and researchers, but also elevates regional voices, strengthens local ownership, and builds lasting connections that extend far beyond the event itself.

We look forward to working closely with UNU-IIGH and UKM as preparations for GHS2026 continue, and we are excited about the impact this partnership will bring to the conference and the broader health security landscape.
